2 children wounded, gunman dead in shooting at California school

On Wednesday, a shooter opened fire at an elementary school in Northern California, killing two children before taking his own life, according to the Butte County sheriff.

According to the sheriff’s office, the incident happened at Feather River School of Seventh-Day Adventists, which is close to Palermo, at approximately 1 p.m.

Sheriff Kory L. Honea told reporters at the site that the adult male shooter is not thought to be connected to the school.

According to him, one of the two kids who were shot was flown, while the other two were sent to hospitals. Their genders, ages, and ailments were not disclosed.

The shooting was described by Honea as “both horrific and tragic.”

According to Honea, the school’s 911 callers claimed that someone on campus had shot students.

We found a person, a male adult, when we got there, Honea said. He appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was unconscious.

When Honea briefed media following the event, he was unaware of the identity of the shooter. According to him, investigators are trying to confirm a possible identification of the shooter.

This probe is only getting started. According to Honea, there are still many unanswered problems and solutions that we are attempting to find.

According to Honea, there are roughly 35 pupils enrolled in the K–8 Feather River School of Seventh-Day Adventists. To be reunited with their parents, the school’s pupils were brought to the Oroville Church of the Nazarene.

The school is around 60 miles north of Sacramento in Butte County, close to Palermo and south of Oroville.
