According to Chicago Police Department Chief of Patrol John Hein, the shooting occurred during a social event.
Shortly after 2:00 p.m., he said, police were summoned to a residence for a person who had been shot.
According to the chief, there were four men and four women among the casualties, who are between the ages of 20 and 35. “They were all men,” Hein remarked of the dead.
According to Hein, city ambulances transported the remaining casualties to medical facilities, while two were transported in private automobiles.
