FBI investigates mysterious drones filling night sky in New Jersey that have ‘unnerved’ residents

According to officials on Monday, large drones have been lingering in formation over northern New Jersey, leaving “unnerved” locals wondering what’s causing these bright, mysterious flying objects to appear in the sky nearly every night.

Authorities claimed the aerial phenomena, which has been annoying but not yet posing a safety risk, is being intensively investigated by the FBI and Morris County Sheriff’s Department.

Morris County Sheriff James Gannon stated in a statement that “there is no advisable immediate danger to the public at this time,” and that “many law enforcement agencies are working in partnership with the Sheriff’s Office on this matter.”

Julie Shavalier, a resident of Morris County, said she has been occupied by the recent, enigmatic night performances.

“We’re all completely unnerved,” Shavalier said on Tuesday in an interview with NBC News. “I didn’t sleep last night.”

She worries that there will be more restless nights in the future, Shavalier said.

“When I would get up and look out my window at 2 a.m., 4 a.m., they were still hovering,” she continued. “They were still there when I woke up at 5:30 a.m. this morning, just as the light was beginning to rise. They returned to their starting point, and I anticipate that they will do so as soon as the sun sets tonight.”

According to NBC New York, the drones have been back every night since they first appeared in mid-November.

With the exception of Thanksgiving, we have been seeing them every night. Mike Walsh, a local, told the publication on Monday, “I guess they took the night off.”

FBI officers, who are also interested in protecting federal officials, have taken notice of this mystery that is developing in the airspace.

Morris County is located just north of Somerset County, which is home to the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, where President-elect Donald Trump frequently spends the night.

“On the reported drone activity,” an FBI representative said, “we are working with our state and local partners.”
