Severe Weather Prompts Truck Ban on I-90

(WNY News Now) The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has implemented limits on Interstate 90 due to dangerous weather conditions. This covers the whole area between the Pennsylvania State Line close to Springfield Township and the New York State Line near Ripley, NY.

All commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) are prohibited from using this road, with the exception of laden CMVs with chains, as of right now. As the area prepares for severe weather, this step is meant to ensure road safety.

Authorities advise drivers to use caution, but all lanes of I-90 are still open to non-commercial traffic. Until further notice, the prohibition will be in effect; updates will be posted on 511NY.org and NY Alert.

Drivers who are passing through the region should make plans for detours and be ready for any delays. Before considering travel in impacted areas, truck drivers are recommended to make sure their vehicles follow safety regulations.

Check notifications via NY Alert or visit 511NY.org for up-to-date information on traffic conditions.
