(WNY News Now) As part of preventative steps in the face of severe weather projections, PennDOT has declared a restriction on all commercial trucks going in both directions along Interstate 86, which crosses the state line between New York and Pennsylvania. The limitation will be in place until further notice and covers the area between Mina, NY, and Greenfield Township, PA.
Only commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) transporting loads with onboard chains are exempt from the prohibition. Given the region’s vulnerability to severe weather, the limits are intended to reduce accidents and enhance traffic safety.
Updates on 511NY.org, which offers real-time traffic alerts and advice for safe travel, are meant to keep drivers aware. Additionally, drivers are urged to use caution and to prepare detours as necessary.
