Panthers rookie sensation Xavier Legette says he ate a raccoon for Thanksgiving

Xavier Legette, a rookie phenom for the Carolina Panthers, has gone viral after sharing his favorite food item: raccoon. He even ate one for Thanksgiving.

Legette revealed that he feeds raccoon to fellow NFL wide outs Amon-Ra and Equanimeous St. Brown on the “St. Brown Podcast” that was made public on Tuesday. The two were momentarily stunned and then asked Legette to elaborate.

For the podcast hosts, Legette explained it in his thick South Carolina accent.

“Like a raccoon you see in the trash can,” replied the man. “I pursue it. I destroy it. I skin them. Cook them. Consume them. Everything.”

The rookie even acknowledged on the program that Thanksgiving was the last time he had one.

Legette responded that raccoons have their own tastes when asked what they taste like.

“Everybody tries to stay stuff tastes like chicken,” he stated. “But raccoon got its own taste.”

According to Legette, the podcast hosts would all like to visit his hometown of Mullins, South Carolina.

They were less shocked when he told them that he also eats rabbit and squirrel in addition to raccoon.

The 2024 first-round pick’s opinions on food have already garnered media attention.

“Do I have to cook it?” he asked in a funny way before enjoying some classic German sausages following the first Panthers training session in Munich.

But he seemed to have some reservations about the chicken wings there, telling a reporter for RTL Sport that he was accustomed to “a different twang of barbecue sauce.”

The wide receiver leads his squad in catching yards and touchdowns, but he may not have the best eating habits.

On Sunday, Legette and his team will face the Dallas Cowboys, where the Panthers are the clear favorite to win for the first time since 2022. The kickoff time is set for 1 p.m.
