After suffering injuries during a vacation to Luxembourg, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi had a successful hip surgery in Germany, a spokeswoman announced on Saturday.
The spokesperson, Ian Krager, said Pelosi was “well on the mend.”

A Defense official told NBC News that when Pelosi was hurt Friday during an official congressional trip to Luxembourg, MEDEVAC transported the former speaker to Landstuhl, Germany.
Pelosi spokesperson Krager informed reporters in a statement on Friday that the 84-year-old Pelosi “sustained an injury during an official engagement and was admitted to the hospital for evaluation.”
“Doctors and medical professionals are providing excellent care for Speaker Emerita Pelosi at the moment,” Krager continued. She regrets not being able to attend the remaining CODEL engagements to commemorate the bravery of our service members during one of the most heroic deeds in American history, but she is still working.

While traveling with more than a dozen other members of Congress to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, Pelosi was initially admitted to the hospital in Luxembourg.

Pelosi, who was first elected in 1987, became the first woman to hold the position of Speaker of the House in 2007.
She was just elected to a second term in November, extending her tenure until 2026. Pelosi has not stated if she intends to run for reelection in two years.
