New Jersey’s Maplewood. Due to numerous drone sightings in the area, President-elect Donald Trump announced Monday that he had postponed a planned visit to his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
Trump attacked the Biden administration for not providing more details on the drones, which were initially seen in New Jersey in November and have since become a national source of worry and conspiracy theories, during his first press conference since winning the presidency.
The statement, “Something strange is going on,” was his. “For some reason, they don t want to tell the people.”
Adding, “They’re very close to Bedminster,” “I may decide not to stay in Bedminster for the weekend. I have made the decision to postpone my trip.
A request for comment was not immediately answered by the White House.
A senior person informed on drones told NBC News last week that since Nov. 18, residents of New Jersey have reported seeing drones in the sky almost every night. Similar incidents have since been recorded by residents in other states, including as Connecticut and New York.
As worries increase and rumors spread, prominent members of Congress, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, and New York Governor Kathy Hochul have urged federal officials to provide the public with additional information.Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J., fueled fears that individuals may begin shooting at passenger planes by making a bogus allegation last week that the drones originated in Iran and urging locals to shoot them down. The Pentagon has denied the drones were connected to Iran, claiming they are not used by the US military.
The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security jointly issued a statement last week stating that there is “no evidence at this time that the reported drone sightings pose a national security or public safety threat or have a foreign nexus.”
“The FBI, DHS and our federal partners, in close coordination with the New Jersey State Police, continue to deploy personnel and technology to investigate this situation and confirm whether the reported drone flights are actually drones or are instead manned aircraft or otherwise inaccurate sightings,” said a statement.
