Los Angeles deputy mayor for safety linked to City Hall bomb threat

A deputy mayor from Los Angeles has been charged with phonily threatening City Hall with a bomb.

The Los Angeles Police Department reacted to a bomb threat on Los Angeles City Hall earlier this year. According to Los Angeles police, Brian Williams, the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, was most likely the originator of the threat, according to our preliminary investigation.

According to sources on Wednesday, the FBI conducted a search of Williams’ residence this week in relation to the purported threat from earlier this year.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said in a statement that Williams has been placed on administrative leave.

According to the statement, the mayor takes this issue extremely seriously. Following a complaint of the threat, LAPD conducted an investigation and concluded that no immediate danger existed. After conducting more research, the LAPD forwarded this case to the FBI for additional examination.

Williams Law Firm did not immediately respond a phone or email on Wednesday afternoon.

When the bomb threat was made was not specified by the authorities.

Because of the police department’s collaboration with Williams, the FBI was given the task of investigating the bomb threat and Williams, according to officials.

On Wednesday afternoon, an FBI Los Angeles representative declined to comment.
