Tesla recalls nearly 700,000 vehicles over tire pressure light issue

Tesla has recalled around 700,000 cars because of a problem with the tire pressure light.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced on Thursday that the electric vehicle manufacturer is recalling some 2024 Cybertrucks, 2017–2025 Model 3 cars, and 2020–2025 Model Y cars because the tire pressure monitoring system warning light might not stay on between drive cycles, failing to alert the driver to low tire pressure.

Driving with incorrectly inflated tires increases the danger of a collision, according to the NHTSA’s safety recall report, which was released on Tuesday.

Approximately 694,000 automobiles are impacted by the recall.

According to Tesla, a free over-the-air software update was released as a solution.

On February 15, 2025, owner notification letters are anticipated to be mailed.

This is not the first recall that the automaker has experienced. According to the Associated Press, the company has issued seven recalls for its Cybertruck alone this year.

The NHTSA stated that “a fault in the drive inverter” was the reason for the Cybertruck’s recall last month, which “may cause a loss of drive power to the wheels.” There were about 2,400 cars in that recall. If so, Tesla promised to replace the drive inverter at no cost.

Tesla announced a recall of over 1.8 million cars back in July after learning that some of the cars’ hoods were inadvertently popping out.
