Expired Sticker Traffic Stop Leads to Fugitive Arrest and Drug Charges in Jamestown

(WNY News Now) Early Friday morning, a routine car stop in Jamestown resulted in the discovery of a fugitive with outstanding warrants and the filing of new narcotics possession charges.

New York’s Jamestown Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 3rd platoon pulled over an SUV near the intersection of W 8th Street and Monroe Street on December 20, 2024, at around 5:43 AM, for having an expired inspection sticker.

Officers found that Kristy E. Walters, a passenger from Jamestown, New York, age 33, had an outstanding warrant from Warren County, Pennsylvania, when conducting the stop. Walters was sent to Jamestown City Jail after being apprehended without incident.

Officers found methamphetamine in Walters’ possession when he was being processed at the jail. She was thus charged with both Fugitive from Justice (felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th. Walters is still being held while he is being arraigned in Jamestown City Court.

The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
