According to a member of Zimbabwe’s parliament, a missing young kid was discovered alive after being left alone in a game area with wild animals for five days.
On Wednesday, Mutsa Murombedzi announced the “true miracle” on X.
Murombedzi claims that 8-year-old Tinotenda Pudu got lost around 23 kilometers (14 miles) from his house and “unknowingly headed into the perilous Matusadonha game park.” According to her, the boy’s hometown is “a community where one wrong turn could easily lead into a game park.”
According to Murombedzi, the youngster went AWOL for five days in the jungle close to the Hogwe River, where he slept on a rocky perch “amidst roaring lions, passing elephants” and subsisted on wild fruits.
She claimed that in an effort to help the boy return home, people of the nearby Nyaminyami community played drums every day.
However, Murombedzi claims that the youngster was eventually located by rangers from Matusadona Africa Parks.
The 7-year-old boy had wandered 49 kilometers (30 miles) from his village “through the harsh terrain of the lion infested” game park to reach his current location, according to a separate statement released by the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) on Friday. However, the agency confirmed the rescue.
According to ZimParks, the youngster went missing on December 27 and a search was launched as soon as they learned of his disappearance.
The agency claimed that the boy’s footsteps were being washed away by the intense rain, which caused difficulties for the search team.
Footprints were discovered in the Sakata Valley region of Matusadona National Park, according to ZimParks on December 30. The following day, they located the boy.
According to ZimParks, following the event, the youngster was first brought to a nearby clinic and then to a hospital for a medical checkup.
On Saturday, Murombedzi provided an update on the boy’s health. According to her, medical officials informed her that the youngster has recovered and is stable, but they are now awaiting a mental health team review to make sure he won’t experience any long-term damage.
In her tweet on Wednesday, Murombedzi said, “We are most grateful to God for keeping an eye on Tinotenda and guiding him home safely.” “This is a testament to the power of unity, hope, prayer and never giving up.”
