Jamestown Man Faces Multiple Charges Following Traffic Stop and Pursuit

(WNY News Now) Jamestown, NY On Saturday, January 11, 2025, a normal traffic check on S. Main Street turned into a short pursuit, which led to the arrest of 54-year-old Jamestown resident Thomas Kimbrough Sr.

At at 11:49 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Third Platoon made an effort to pull over Kimbrough’s car for traffic violations. When Kimbrough disobeyed, officers pursued him in a brief car chase.

Kimbrough stopped the car and ran on foot into a nearby house. Notably, he failed to shift the vehicle into park, which resulted in it rolling into the front of a police cruiser and causing minor damage.

Following a brief confrontation, Kimbrough left the house and was arrested. Officers found a significant amount of fentanyl on him as he was being processed at the Jamestown City Jail. Even though Kimbrough’s driving privileges had been removed because of previous DWI offenses, a subsequent investigation showed that he had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of drugs.

Kimbrough is charged with several offenses, including:

  • Felony Driving While Ability Impaired (DWAI)

  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle (AUO) in the First Degree

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (CPCS) in the Seventh Degree

  • Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident

Kimbrough was also given multiple driving penalties for infractions that occurred during the event.

Kimbrough was detained in Jamestown City Court pending his arraignment. The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
