Citibank customers report fraud alerts and account access issues

On Wednesday, many Citibank customers reported having trouble accessing their accounts and receiving fraud alerts.

As of lunchtime, hundreds of Citibank customers have reported problems with their accounts, according to DownDetector.com, which monitors complaints of disruptions in digital services.

According to the website, the disruptions have been happening since at least nine in the morning Eastern time.

Customers complained about lengthy wait times with the bank’s fraud department after obtaining fraud alerts on social media site X. Some said that they were unable to access their mobile accounts.

According to a Citi representative, the business is “working swiftly to address some technical issues with Citi’s mobile app experience.” Customers can still contact the number on the back of their cards or on their monthly statement, or they can log in at Citi.com, for service needs during this time.

Earlier Wednesday afternoon, bank employees were answering social media complaints. One person wrote on X, “We are currently working on this and ask that you try calling in another 1-2 hours.”

Citi released financial results on Wednesday morning that exceeded analysts’ forecasts, including record sales across several business sectors.
