Brian J. Perrin, 34, of Amherst, was sentenced this morning before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case, according to a statement released by Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane today. He was given an indeterminate prison term ranging from two to six years.

At around 4:22 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, Town of Tonawanda police officers were called to the scene of a motorcycle accident involving injuries at the intersection of Colvin Boulevard and Eggert Road. The injured and unconscious motorcyclist was discovered by officers in the road. After being transported by EMS to ECMC, the 36-year-old male victim received treatment for severe physical wounds.

In a nearby parking area, officers discovered the defendant’s car unattended and severely damaged on the front end. According to the inquiry, the defendant rode a bicycle out of the location. Shortly after, Amherst Police spotted the intoxicated defendant in the vicinity of Margaret Road and Charlotte Street, a few miles from the scene of the collision.

Investigators found that the defendant collided with the motorcyclist at the intersection of Eggert Road while driving his SUV south on Colvin Boulevard. The defendant drove his car into the parking lot after the collision and fled the scene without calling the police.

Perrin entered a guilty plea to two charges: one count of first-degree vehicular assault (a Class D felony) and one count of leaving the scene of an incident that caused injury (a Class E felony). On September 13, 2024, the defendant entered a guilty plea to the most serious offenses that could be proven.
