At least 10 killed in hotel fire at a ski resort in Turkey

Turkey’s ANKARA At least ten people were killed and thirty-two others were injured when a hotel at a ski resort in northwest Turkey caught fire on Tuesday, according to authorities.

According to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, the fire started overnight at a hotel restaurant in the Kartalkaya resort in Bolu province.

According to Governor Abdulaziz Aydin, who spoke to the state-run Anadolu Agency, two of the victims perished after frantically leaping out of the building. According to private NTV television, some people attempted to use blankets to get down from their rooms.

According to Aydin, 234 people were lodging at the hotel.

The hotel’s roof and upper stories were on fire, according to television footage. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire.

Located roughly 186 miles east of Istanbul in the Koroglu mountains is the well-known ski resort of Kartalkaya. Hotels in the area are crowded during the school semester break, which is when the incident happened.

According to Aydin’s office, 28 ambulances and 30 fire trucks were dispatched to the scene.

As a precaution, other resort hotels were evacuated.
