North Korea fires strategic cruise missiles, vows tough stance on U.S.

South Korea’s SEOUL According to state media KCNA on Sunday, North Korea tested a strategic cruise missile on Saturday.

According to the article, the test was supervised by Kim Jong Un, the nation’s leader, and was characterized as a test-fire of a significant weapon system.

Before striking their objectives, the 1,500-kilometer (about 932-mile) underwater-to-surface strategic cruise missiles flew between 7,507 and 7,511 seconds, according to KCNA.

North Korea’s foreign ministry promised the strongest retaliation against the US as long as Washington rejects Pyongyang’s sovereignty in a separate KCNA report on Sunday.

In a statement reported by KCNA, the ministry blamed the rising tensions in the region on the military alliance and joint exercises between South Korea and the United States.

The announcement coincided with U.S. President Donald Trump’s Thursday interview in which he stated that he would get in touch with Kim once more after the two became friends during Trump’s first term.

Kim was quoted as stating that North Korea was further refining its war deterrence tactics and promising to keep working to bolster the military.

According to Kim Jong Un, the DPRK will always work hard to fulfill its vital role and duty of maintaining long-term peace and stability based on future military might that is more potently developed.

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, North Korea’s official name, is abbreviated as the DPRK.

At approximately 4 p.m. local time (2 a.m. ET) on Saturday, North Korea launched several cruise missiles from inland regions toward waters off the west coast, according to a statement released later that day by South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.
