Fredonia Senior Elizabeth Pucci-Schaefer Honored for Athletic & Academic Excellence

(WNY News Now) A Proclamation for Outstanding Achievements is given to the State Diving Champion.

MAYVILLE, N.Y.—During its January meeting on Wednesday evening, Chautauqua County honored Elizabeth Pucci-Schaefer for her exceptional accomplishments in athletics, academia, and the community.

County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. and lawmakers Robert M. Scudder and Thomas A. Carle gave a proclamation honoring Pucci-Schaefer, a senior at Fredonia High School.

Pucci-Schaefer’s achievements as the 2024 State Champion in 1-meter girls diving were emphasized in the proclamation. She finished her diving career as a four-time New York State Public High School Athletic Association Section VI Diving Champion after winning the title with a score of 503.5 at the state and federation championships in Webster, N.Y.

Apart from her physical achievements, Pucci-Schaefer’s academic standing places her in the top five in her class. She participates actively in the Fredonia High School String Orchestra, Student Council, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and National Honor Society. She also plays on a number of sports teams, including indoor and outdoor track, swimming and diving, and school musicals.

Through her volunteer work with Santa’s Workshop, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and the Special Olympics, Pucci-Schaefer has made a huge impact on her community. Among her academic accomplishments are department honors in Spanish and English, the WDOE Leadership Award, and the title of Fredonia High School Student of the Month.

Following graduation, Pucci-Schaefer plans to continue her academic and athletic career in the NCAA Big Ten Conference at Penn State University.
