After the devastating Eaton Fire, Brian McShea and Stephanie Raynor searched through the rubble of their former Altadena house to see what they might rescue. McShea was searching for a particular item that he believed was still undamaged, while Raynor searched for any items that had survived the fire.
McShea suddenly discovered the engagement ring he would use to pop the question to Raynor among the debris that represented the couple’s material possessions.
He recalled that my initial thought was, “Oh, look, here it is.”
McShea specifically located the ring beneath his guitar’s strings. McShea made the decision to pop the question to his beloved right then and there.
“You consider how much pressure and perfection you desire at the time of your proposal,” he stated. When I discovered it, it said, “Here it is.” Are you going to wed me?
Raynor claimed she was moved to tears by the touching encounter.
She said, “I cried, I was crying.” My glasses were completely fogged up when I wore them with the goggles on top. I simply went up and gave him a big hug, and of course, I said yes.
The couple asked a woman walking by to take their picture as a way to remember the moment that changed their lives. The couple went to the jeweler where McShea bought the ring to have it cleaned before it was put on Raynor’s finger for good.
The pair is looking forward to rebuilding as well as organizing their wedding.
According to McShea, Altadena and the other fire-affected areas have received a lot of support from Los Angeles. And I’m hoping that we can rebuild Altadena and that they’re ready to put in the long haul. Yes, we can live under the mountains for a few years after we get married.
