Iconic ‘As Tears Go By’ singer Marianne Faithfull dies at 78

According to her spokesman, singer Marianne Faithfull, one of the most well-known female voices of the British Invasion, passed away in London on Thursday.

The singer of As Tears Go By was 78 years old.

In a statement, her representative said, “We regret to inform you of the passing of singer, songwriter, and actress Marianne Faithfull.”

“Marianne died quietly today in London, surrounded by her devoted family. We will really miss her.

Her cause of death wasn’t revealed right away.

Faithfull disclosed that she had breast cancer in 2006.

She stated at the time that she was certain she would have many more years to live because the cancer had been discovered early.

In 2006, she declared, “I have complete faith and confidence in my wonderful medical team, and of course, I will be well again, if not better than ever.” I want to reassure fans that next year’s tour will be a huge celebration.

“As Tears Go By,” Faithfull’s most well-known song, peaked at No. 9 and remained on the Billboard charts for nine weeks in late 1964 and early 1965.

The Rolling Stones’ rendition of the song, which was released a year later, peaked at No. 10 and remained on the charts for nine weeks.

Because of that song and her long-term friendship with Stones vocalist Mick Jagger, Faithfull will always be associated with the Rolling Stones.

The story is still evolving. For updates, please return.
