Gustavo Petro, the president of Colombia, called for undocumented Colombians working in the United States to leave their jobs right away and go back to their country on Friday.
In a post on X, he also mentioned that returnees who sign up for its programs would receive credits from the Department of Social Prosperity.
This week, Colombian air force aircraft have landed in Bogota with U.S. deportees.
After diplomats from his administration and the United States came to an agreement on deportation flights over the weekend, Petro avoided an economic catastrophe. The issue had threatened tariffs on both countries, and the U.S. had imposed visa restrictions.
