(WNY News Now)CHAUTAUQUA, NY After allegedly escaping the scene of a crash in the Town of Chautauqua, a Pennsylvania man is facing several counts, including felony DWI.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reports that on January 31 at around 4:29 p.m., deputies were called to a single-vehicle property damage collision near the junction of East Chautauqua Street and Honeysette Road. Officers found the motorist had fled the scene upon arrival, but they were able to find him in the vicinity.
It was discovered that the driver, Chad Gantz, 43, of Union City, Pennsylvania, was inebriated. After more research, it was discovered that Gantz was driving without a license, using alcohol in the car, and not having the necessary ignition interlock device installed.
Gantz was arrested and charged with felony DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage collision, operating a motor vehicle without a license, operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock, failing to maintain lane, and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Gantz was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment after processing. The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
