(WNY News Now) A Winter Weather Advisory for portions of Western New York has been issued by the Buffalo-based National Weather Service (NWS), which warns of snow and freezing rain that will make travel dangerous through early Monday.
As of 6:00 a.m. on February 3, the alert, which was issued at 1:21 p.m. on February 2, is still in force. One to two inches of snow and a little amount of ice buildup are anticipated, along with light snow and freezing rain. Overnight freezing drizzle can continue, making travel even riskier.
The western Southern Tier and the counties of Wyoming and Southern Erie are among the impacted areas. Residents should prepare for decreased visibility and slick roads. Drivers are advised to slow down, drive more cautiously, and give themselves more time to get there.
Using its website or social media accounts, the NWS invites the public to report snow and ice conditions.
