(WNY News Now) – A routine traffic stop in Allegany led to the arrest of a local woman on charges of driving while impaired by drugs, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
Allegany, N.Y. – On November 11, 2024, at approximately 12:23 a.m., Cattaraugus County deputies pulled over Christine A. Larson, 49, of Allegany, NY, on Birch Run Road. During the stop, deputies observed signs suggesting Larson may have been driving under the influence of drugs. Larson was subsequently taken into custody for suspected impairment.
Following standard protocol, Larson was transported to the Olean Police Department, where a datamaster test was administered. She was then brought to the Olean Substation for a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) evaluation, a specialized assessment conducted by certified officers to determine drug impairment. As part of the investigation, Larson was also taken to Olean General Hospital, where a blood sample was collected for further testing.
After processing, Larson was released on an appearance ticket, along with several other traffic citations. She faces charges under New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL) 511-3A2, 1192-4, and 306-B. Larson is expected to appear in the Town of Allegany Court on a future date to answer to these charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
