Dunkirk Police Arrest Shooting Suspect in Multi-State Pursuit

(WNY News Now) A violent altercation in Dunkirk led to a shooting, an interstate manhunt, and the capture of a 20-year-old suspect now facing felony charges.

DUNKIRK, NY Authorities have arrested Davon J. McCall, 20, of Brocton, NY, in connection with a shooting that occurred on the evening of August 14, 2024, in the 300 block of Washington Avenue. The incident, which began with an altercation, resulted in a male victim being shot in the leg.

Police reported that the victim was initially transported to Brooks Hospital before being transferred to Erie County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

A warrant for McCall s arrest was issued shortly after the shooting, leading to an interstate effort involving local and federal authorities. McCall was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Massachusetts, where he had fled, and was held as a fugitive before being transported back to Dunkirk.

McCall faces charges ofCriminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth DegreeandAssault in the Second Degree,a felony. He is currently held at the Chautauqua County Jail on $100,000 bail.

The investigation was conducted by the Dunkirk Police Department with assistance from the Chautauqua County District Attorney s Office, Chautauqua County Sheriff s Department, and New York State Police. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
