At least 5 people wounded as rocket shrapnel falls on Israeli city

TEL AVIV At least five people were wounded by falling shrapnel Monday after a missile fired from Lebanon was intercepted by the Israeli military over a street in the city of Ramat Gan, officials said.

A 54-year-old woman in serious condition was being treated by emergency medical technicians, Israel s Magen David Adom ambulance service said in apost on X. Another patient listed in moderate condition and three mildly injured were taken to the Rabin Medical Center, the service said.

Israel s police service said it was working to secure the impact sites and assist in evacuating the injured in the city, which is within the Tel Aviv district.

The Israeli military said in a statement that the country s air force had intercepted one projectile that was identified crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory. A fall was identified in the area, it was most likely shrapnel from the interceptor launched.

Hours earlier, Rami Swaid, an EMT with the volunteer emergency service United Hatzalah, said a woman was killed after a rocket directly hit a residential building in the northern Israeli city of Shfaram. Additionally, we provided assistance at the scene to over 20 residents of the building in various conditions, he said.

The new developments come as Israel intensified its bombardment in and around the Lebanese capital over the last week.

An Israeli airstrike killed five people and another 24 were injured by astrike on central Beirut’sdensely populated Zuqaq al-Blat neighborhood, Lebanon s health ministry said Monday.
