(WNY Now News) In the midst of the splendor of nature, Audubon Community Nature Center will commemorate its longstanding Thanksgiving tradition this Saturday, November 23, with a feast and family-friendly program.
Thanksgiving with the Birds is a longstanding Audubon tradition that dates back to the Audubon Community Nature Center’s foundation, and it includes turkey, gravy, and drinks. This year’s communal Thanksgiving dinner, which is held on Saturday, November 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., is a team effort.
In the early days of the gathering, Audubon’s resilient founders brought lawn chairs, prepared soup in an outside pot, and enjoyed their Thanksgiving meal outside in the crisp, often snowy air surrounded by birds and trees. In addition to the optional soup (broth-based, preferably; no seafood), participants are now requested to offer their favorite Thanksgiving dessert or side dish. After mixing soup in the backyard, dinner and a presentation will take place indoors.
The presentation begins at 1 p.m., and the dinner will be served at noon. Bridgette, the Red-tailed Hawk, and Emma Roth, a nature educator and animal care specialist, are featured on the show.
It costs $8; Nature Center members get $6, and kids ages 3 to 15 get in free. Reservations must be paid for by Wednesday, November 15 and can be made via Programs and Events at AudubonCNC.org or by calling (716) 569-2345.
