‘The Simpsons’ voice actor behind Milhouse character retires from show

The voice of some of The Simpsons’ most recognizable characters is leaving the show.

After 35 years, Pamela Hayden, who voiced Milhouse Van Houten and numerous other characters, announced her retirement from the program. She will make her final appearance on the FOX show on Sunday.

It’s time for me to put down my microphone, but how can I bid The Simpsons farewell? In a press release, Hayden stated. Not without difficulty.

According to the show’s creator, Matt Groening, Bart Simpson wanted a companion to chat to in the school cafeteria, so he created Milhouse, his unfortunate best friend. He also pays homage to previous President Richard Milhous Nixon with his name.

According to a remark from Groening, “We gave him the name Milhouse because that was the most unfortunate name a child could have.” With Milhouse, the unfortunate child with Springfield’s largest nose, Pamela made us laugh a lot. We will miss her because she brought humor and authenticity to Milhouse.

Over the years, the character’s phrases have been persistently memed; online, Milhouse video and compilations frequently receive millions of views.

In a video released by Fox on Wednesday to honor her roles, Haydens stated, “People approach me and they quote lines from Milhouse.” One thing I adore about Milhouse is that, despite everyone’s constant criticism of him for being a nerd, he never gives up.

Among other characters on the show, Hayden voiced Lisa Simpson’s best friend Janey Powell, bully Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders, Ned Flanders’ eldest son, and Lisa’s Malibu Stacy doll.

According to FOX, it will shortly start hiring new voice actors for Hayden’s recurrent roles.

“I will always have a special place in my heart for that blue-haired 10-year-old boy with glasses,” said Hayden, who has played a variety of parts on the show for more than thirty years.
