The Republican Party has taken control of the Senate and the House, and President-elect Donald Trump has secured a second term in office. However, a few congressional contests are still uncalled.
Even while Republicans will control both houses—three House seats and one Senate seat are still up for grabs—it is unclear how big their majorities will be and how simple it would be for them to carry out Trump’s agenda.
Here are the races that the NBC News Decision Desk has not yet called, with votes still being tabulated (learn more about how those races are called).
The lone Senate race left to call
Pennsylvania: Despite Trump’s victory, the state’s Senate contest is being recounted. Against Republican Dave McCormick, a former hedge fund CEO who failed to secure the GOP Senate nominee in 2022, Democratic Senator Bob Casey is seeking a third term.
House races left to call
Republicans were urged to take control of the House, but it is still unknown how big—or, more precisely, how small—their majority will be. Three races are still uncalled at this time.
California’s 13th District: In this Central Valley district, Republican Representative John Duarte is facing off against Democrat Adam Gray, a former state lawmaker.
California’s 45th District: In one of the most costly contests in the nation, Democratic Army veteran Derek Tran is just ahead of GOP Representative Michelle Steel, with batches of ballots counted after election night favoring Tran.
Iowa’s First District: Democrat Christina Bohannan, a former state representative, is only a few hundred votes behind Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who is currently in the lead. Miller-Meeks, who won her 2020 campaign by a slim margin of six votes, is no stranger to the situation.
