One Direction stars join family at Liam Payne’s funeral

London Just over a month after the One Direction star died in a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Liam Payne’s burial took place in southeast England on Wednesday.

When the 31-year-old musician fell from the third floor on October 16, an autopsy found that he had residues of cocaine, alcohol, and a prescription antidepressant in his system.In relation to the incident, three people have been charged.

Earlier this month, Argentine officials allowed his body to be flown back to Britain for burial.

Only his closest friends and family were present at the private ceremony held at St. Mary’s Church in Amersham, northwest of London.

Along with Payne’s fiancée at the time of his death, Kate Cassidy, his former bandmates Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles attended the private service.

The mother of Payne’s 7-year-old son, Bear, and Cheryl, star of Girls Aloud, also attended the funeral.

The service was attended by TV comedian James Corden, music magnate Simon Cowell, and Cheryl’s bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts.

Following their individual auditions for the British music competition The X Factor, Cowell oversaw the foundation of One Direction in 2010.

A silver-handled, dark blue coffin with white roses on top was brought to the chapel in a white horse-drawn carriage.

The words “son” and “daddy” were spelled out in red and blue floral tributes atop the carriage.

In addition, some locals and supporters congregated around the church to offer their last condolences.

“We are heartbroken,” Liam’s family wrote in a brief statement after his passing. Because of his brave, humorous, and loving nature, Liam will always have a place in our hearts.

His fellow members of One Direction expressed his sentiments in a united statement, calling themselves “completely devastated.”

There will be more to say when everyone has the time to do so. On Instagram, they stated, “But for the time being, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.”

With the boyband, Payne became well-known throughout the world.

The band sold over 70 million records and had four No. 1 albums on the Billboard Hot 200, even though they only placed third on the show.

Some of Payne’s solo hits included “Strip That Down” and “Bedroom Floor.”
