(WNY News Now) Two people were arrested for endangering three children after a Child Protective Services (CPS) house investigation revealed unsettling living conditions on Jamestown’s west side.
Jamestown, New York. Child Protective Services (CPS) requested help at a residence on the west side of the city on November 22, 2024, and Jamestown Police Department officers from the First Platoon arrived at 12:37 PM.
During a regular home inspection, CPS officers discovered terrible living conditions that put the children in the home at serious risk. The toxic atmosphere was then brought to the attention of the Department of Development (DOD).
Officers detained Mariangel Velazquez Rosario, 37, and Fernando Mojica Reyes, 25, after the inquiry. Three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a misdemeanor, were brought against both defendants.
CPS is now in charge of the children’s welfare, and work is being done to evaluate and improve the living conditions. Before being released, both adults were detained at the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment. The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
