Niagara County Kidnapping Case: Second Defendant Pleads Guilty to Shocking Crime

(WNY News Now) The second defendant in the horrific kidnapping case of a 77-year-old victim in the Town of Niagara enters a guilty plea to criminal charges.

Lockport, New York Gregory N. Perry, 32, of the Town of Niagara, entered a guilty plea to kidnapping in the second degree in Niagara County Court on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone. In a horrific event earlier this year, Perry and co-defendant Ashley N. McMillen allegedly detained a 77-year-old man against his will in order to finance their drug habit. This is the basis for the allegations.

Perry will be sentenced to 15 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision, according to presiding Judge John Ottaviano’s agreement. The sentencing date for Perry is set for January 21, 2025. McMillen, his 36-year-old accomplice, had already pleaded guilty to the same allegation and received a 10-year jail sentence with five years of post-release supervision.

When the Town of Niagara Police and Niagara County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call for assistance, the incident became public knowledge. After forcing access into the victim’s house, it was discovered that the old man was bound, restrained, and in need of medical attention.

This man endured a terrible suffering at the hands of the defendants. He was extremely lucky with the timing and manner of the responses from the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Niagara Police. When police received a tip that the victim could require assistance, they broke into his house. They discovered him bound, shackled, and in need of medical attention. The goal was to steal in order to purchase drugs. If the cops hadn’t acted as they did, we don’t know what may have happened. We should congratulate the responding cops from both agencies. stated Brian D. Seaman, the district attorney for Niagara County.
