Florida man charged with murder after golfer beaten with his own clubs

In what officials described as a “random” incident at a Florida golf course, a man was fatally battered with his own golf clubs.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Junior Boucher, 36, of West Palm Beach, is accused of first-degree murder in connection with the death of golfer Brian Hiltebeitel, 65, at the Sandhill Crane Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens on Monday afternoon.

As they wrestled physically in a pond close to the first hole, a witness informed police that the suspect appeared to choke the man and repeatedly struck him over the head with golf clubs.

According to the affidavit, the man was declared dead at the golf course after authorities removed him from the pond and tried to save his life.

According to Palm Beach Gardens Police Chief Dominick Pape, Boucher did not seem to have a valid reason for being at the golf course on Tuesday. Using the victim’s golf clubs as weapons, Boucher violently attacked the victim and killed him in what seems to have been a random act of violence.

It was not immediately possible to get in touch with the public defender who was named in court documents as Boucher’s attorney on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a Palm Beach County jail representative, Boucher was being held without bond at the jail on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Pape, Boucher has a criminal record that includes convictions for violently resisting arrest, domestic abuse, and drug possession and distribution.

According to the police chief, Boucher’s family reported him missing to the county sheriff’s office around an hour before officers arrived at the golf course.

Police were informed by a witness that the victim was running away when Boucher struck him with a club. According to the affidavit, Hiltebeitel shouted again, telling officers, “He’s trying to kill me.”

According to the affidavit, Boucher seemed to choke the victim after jumping on top of him while he was in the water. According to the affidavit, Boucher repeatedly punched the victim in the head after he stopped moving.

Authorities reported that after leaving the pond, Boucher undressed.

According to the affidavit, Boucher was apprehended by police at the golf course while naked and restrained after being subjected to an electronic control weapon.
