Accidental Fire Linked to Riding Lawnmower at Sheridan Residence

(WNY News Now) – Firefighters from multiple departments quickly extinguished a structure fire on Newell Road, ultimately determining the cause was an accidental ignition from a riding lawnmower.

Sheridan, N.Y. – On November 2, 2024, at approximately 2:58 PM, multiple fire departments responded to a reported structure fire at 10539 Newell Road in Sheridan, New York. Emergency responders arrived promptly and initiated firefighting efforts to control the blaze, which threatened the residential property.

By 3:30 PM, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was summoned to the scene to conduct a detailed cause and origin investigation. Their examination revealed that the fire was accidental, stemming from a riding lawnmower located in an attached carport adjacent to the garage and main house. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.
