(WNY News Now) More than a dozen fire agencies and emergency services are working nonstop to contain the damage and guarantee the safety of inhabitants as a fast-moving fire destroys eight apartments in Friendship.
The Friendship Fire Department was called in to respond to a structure fire at 4 Depot Street in Friendship at 12:27 p.m. on January 2, 2025, according to the Office of Emergency Management. The City of Olean Fire Department and ten Allegany County Fire Departments arrived on the scene. Three fire units were also on standby, and seven ambulance agencies responded. The Friendship Police Department, the New York State Police, and the Sheriff’s Office were among the law enforcement agencies that provided assistance.
Everyone was taken out of the building, assessed, and then released.
The American Red Cross and Love Thy Neighbor were approached to help the displaced families after the fire damaged eight apartments.
Allegany County would like to acknowledge and express gratitude to the several committed first responders whose prompt responses and unwavering work helped to lessen the destruction inflicted by this terrible fire.
