(WNY News Now) – A 23-year-old woman is facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing another individual at an Amherst hotel, authorities report.
AMHERST, NY — Anghely Llamozas-Perez, a 23-year-old resident of Amherst, appeared in court this morning for her arraignment on felony assault and misdemeanor weapons charges following an alleged stabbing incident. Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced that Llamozas-Perez has been charged with one count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class D felony, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to court documents, the incident occurred on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, around 5:30 p.m. Llamozas-Perez is accused of using a kitchen knife to stab the victim during a confrontation at a hotel on Flint Road in Amherst. Police responded to the scene and detained Llamozas-Perez following the alleged assault.
Llamozas-Perez is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. Judge Kara Buscaglia ordered that Llamozas-Perez be held without bail until the hearing. If convicted on the felony assault charge, Llamozas-Perez could face a maximum sentence of up to seven years in prison.
Acting DA Keane praised the Amherst Police Department for their swift response and efforts in handling the case. Assistant District Attorney Kevin L. Southern of the Felony Trials Bureau is assigned to prosecute.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
