Angola Man Arrested for Stolen Property, Fentanyl Possession Following Bench Warrant

(WNY News Now) – A 30-year-old Angola man was arrested in connection with a stolen property charge and fentanyl possession after deputies discovered drug paraphernalia during his arrest.

On November 9, 2024, deputies from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Shawn S. Esis, a 30-year-old resident of Angola, New York, in connection with an outstanding bench warrant for criminal possession of stolen property. The arrest took place at approximately 2:03 PM after Esis was located and taken into custody.

During a search incident to the arrest, deputies uncovered an electronic scale typically used for measuring narcotic substances, along with a quantity of fentanyl. As a result, Esis faces additional charges for the possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Esis was processed and transported to the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office. He is scheduled to appear before the Town of Machias local criminal court in December for arraignment on the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
