The Onion wins Alex Jones’ Infowars in bankruptcy auction

The Onion, the satirical news company that repeatedly spoofed conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, has won the bankruptcy auction for control over his media empire — most notably Infowars, the far-right, conspiracy-minded website that served as Jones’ primary online platform. Jones announced the sale on X on Thursday morning. “I just got word 15 minutes ago that my lawyers and folks met with the U.S. trustee over our bankruptcy this morning and they said they are shutting us down even without a court order this morning,” Jones said. “I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m going to be here until they come and turn the lights off,” he added. The Onion plans to shutter Jones’ Infowars and rebuild the website featuring well-known internet humor writers and content cr...

Denzel Washington says his gay kiss in ‘Gladiator II’ was cut, thinks filmmakers ‘got chicken’

“ Gladiator II ” is set to release next week, bringing audiences the glory and gore of the Roman Empire: swords will be unsheathed, heroes will rise —and in this blockbuster sequel — perhaps share a kiss? Actor Denzel Washington told Gayety that he had a kiss in the movie, but it was ultimately cut from the final print. “I actually kissed the man in the film, but they took it, they cut it, I think they got chicken,” Washington, who plays a Roman businessman in the film, said in a video interview. “I kissed a guy full on the lips, and I guess they weren’t ready for that yet.” “I killed him about five minutes later,” the Oscar-winner added with a laugh. “It’s ‘Gladiator.’ It’s the kiss of death.” It appears that it wasn’t the only kiss that was cut from the R...

Mark Zuckerberg and T-Pain drop a cover of ‘Get Low,’ form temporary supergroup Z-Pain

Mark Zuckerberg and T-Pain collaborated to release one of the most unforeseen songs of the year on Wednesday: an acoustic version of Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz’s "Get Low." The Facebook founder and Meta CEO teased the cover on Tuesday when he shared a picture of himself and T-Pain on his Instagram story with the caption, "It’s happening guys." Singer-songwriter and producer T-Pain followed suit, sharing the same image and referencing Zuckerberg as "Z," a nod to the pair's moniker on the track, Z-Pain. The collaboration was an anniversary present for Zuckerberg's wife, Priscilla Chan, according to his Instagram post announcing the song's release. "'Get Low' was playing when I first met Priscilla at a college party, so every year we listen to it on our dating anniv...

Diamond necklace linked to Marie Antoinette scandal sells for $4.8 million

It's a sparkling piece of scandal. A 300-carat 18th century necklace, whose diamonds may have helped fuel the overthrow of the French monarchy, sold Wednesday for nearly $5 million at an auction in Geneva . The necklace has been worn at two British coronations and may contain diamonds from the infamous necklace at the heart of a scandal that tainted the reputation of Marie Antoinette , the last queen of France. It sold for more than twice its estimate, at $4.81 million. Experts believe that some of the diamonds may be linked to the infamous “Affair of the Diamond Necklace.” That theory is supported by the style of the necklace as well as the quality and age of the stones, the auction house Sotheby’s said in a press release. The exact origin...
