Nick Fuentes confronted at his home after ‘your body, my choice’ refrain goes viral

Police confirmed that they responded to a call involving white nationalist Nick Fuentes and a woman who appeared to show up at his Illinois home Sunday unannounced after he was doxxed online. Marla Rose, 57, said in a now-deleted Facebook post that she was about to ring Fuentes’ doorbell when he opened the door, sprayed her with a liquid, took her phone, pushed her down the steps and went back inside. Rose did not respond to multiple requests for comment. Rose shared a video of the altercation Tuesday on Facebook . In the video, Fuentes opens the door and points what appears to be a spraying device toward the camera. The person holding the camera says, “Oh, my God, what are you doing?” and the camera seems to be knocked over as Fuentes says, “Get the f--- out of her...

World’s largest coral found in Solomon Islands

HONG KONG — For at least three centuries, it grew in secret on the seabed of the southwestern Pacific Ocean. Now, the largest coral ever recorded has been discovered, scientists said Thursday, and it’s so big it can be seen from space. It was found by a National Geographic team conducting an expedition in the Solomon Islands in October to study ocean health. From the surface, “it looked like a shipwreck,” said Molly Timmers, lead scientist of the Pristine Seas expedition. But the team’s cinematographer dove to take a closer look and found a “mega coral hiding in plain sight.” “It was a very exciting discovery,” Timmers told NBC News in an email Thursday. ‘Wicked’ director Jon Chu says all the Oz works have come at big historical shifts

“Wicked” director Jon M. Chu reflected on how the feature film might have greater meaning in the wake of the election. In an interview with NBC News, he pointed out that Oz works have always come out during times of national change and reckonings: World War I, 9/11 and now the 2024 election. He said he hopes people can glean a message of resilience and belonging. “‘The Wizard of Oz’ was always sort of prophetic in a way,” Chu said. “It was written at a time of America in transition. At that point, the Depression had just finished and they’re about to go into war. And so it’s always a question of about what the American dream looks like when the road ends and what are the possibilities of the next thing.” “Wicked,” starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, is an adaptation of the h...

The Onion wins Alex Jones’ Infowars in bankruptcy auction

The Onion, the satirical news company that repeatedly spoofed conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, has won the bankruptcy auction for control over his media empire — most notably InfoWars, the far-right, conspiracy-minded website that served as Jones' primary online platform. Jones announced the sale on X Thursday morning. "I just got word 15 minutes ago that my lawyers and folks met with the U.S. trustee over our bankruptcy this morning and they said they are shutting us down even without a court order this morning," Jones said. "The Connecticut democrats with The Onion newspaper bought us," he added. The Onion plans to shutter Jones' InfoWars and rebuild the website featuring well-known internet humor writers and content creators, according to a person with knowl...
