Biden welcomes first great-grandchild after granddaughter Naomi Biden gives birth

Following the birth of his granddaughter Naomi Biden, President Joe Biden welcomed his first great-grandchild in California on Wednesday.

Following a briefing from representatives of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection on their efforts to combat the wildfires blazing over Los Angeles, Biden informed reporters, “The good news is, I’m a great-grandfather as of today.”

“A 10-pound, four-ounce baby girl” was the birth of his granddaughter, according to Biden, who promptly corrected himself to say “baby boy.”

“I’m about to be a great-grandfather, Jesus God,” Biden said in a recent interview with USA Today, referring to the upcoming birth of his great-grandchild. However, I’m heading to California, Naomi. On January 8, she is scheduled to undergo a cesarean section.

Adding, “God willing,”

The president and first lady hosted Naomi Biden’s wedding to her husband, Peter Neal, at the White House just over two years prior to the birth of Biden’s great-grandchild.

The bride told Vogue at the time that she and her grandparents had a tight relationship that “hasn’t changed much” after her grandfather was elected president.

We lived so close when I was in middle school, and they attended all of our school performances and sporting events. We continue to act in the same manner. This is how it has always been,” she continued.

Hunter Biden and his first wife, Kathleen Buhle, are the parents of Naomi Biden. Over the past four years, the president’s son has frequently made news due to criminal charges and attention surrounding his addictions.

Just days before he was scheduled to be sentenced in two different cases—one for a guilty plea on federal tax evasion charges and the other for a conviction on federal firearms charges—the president announced in December that he was pardoning Hunter Biden.

Prior to the fire response briefing on Wednesday, Joe, Jill Biden, and Hunter Biden paid Naomi Biden a visit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Hunter Biden was joined by his late brother, the president’s eldest son, Beau Jr., and his infant son, Melissa Cohen Biden, his present wife.
