(WNY News Now) – A Buffalo resident faces a 48-month federal prison sentence for attempting to possess and distribute cocaine.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced the sentencing of Tremaine Jacobs, 51, also known as “Teeter” and “T,” who was convicted of attempting to possess and distribute cocaine. U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo sentenced Jacobs to 48 months in federal prison, a decision that underscores the court’s commitment to addressing drug-related crimes in Buffalo.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Adler, who prosecuted the case, revealed that on May 16, 2020, law enforcement officials learned of a suspicious package valued at approximately $7,000 containing cocaine en route to Jacobs. This package, intercepted by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), was addressed to a residence at 542 Goodyear Avenue, an address linked to Jacobs. DEA agents confirmed that the package held 248 grams of cocaine.
Following this discovery, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Jacobs’ primary residence on May 30, 2020, located at 533 Goodyear Avenue. The search, conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Buffalo Police Department Intelligence Unit, yielded additional evidence, including approximately 16 ounces of suspected marijuana, $10,507 in cash, and various pieces of jewelry.
The case was investigated by the DEA, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Frank A. Tarentino III of the New York Field Division, in coordination with the ATF, led by Special Agent-in-Charge Bryan Miller, and the Buffalo Police Department, overseen by Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia.
