BUFFALO MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR DRUG DEAL LINKED TO FATAL OVERDOSE

Buffalo, New York (WNY News Now).A Buffalo man who sold drugs that led to an overdose fatality was given a sentence of 170 months in federal prison. After a fatal overdose in 2022, Darryl Sweat, 32, was found guilty of selling cocaine, fentanyl, and para-fluorofentanyl.

Sweat sold cocaine to V.O., a regular customer, on April 18, 2022. When emergency services and law enforcement arrived at V.O.’s home two days later, they found the person dead. Acute mixed drug intoxication, comprising cocaine, fentanyl, para-fluorofentanyl, and tramadol, was determined to be the cause of death during an autopsy.

More evidence of drug trafficking was found throughout the investigation, which was headed by the Buffalo Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Sweat’s role in the distribution of deadly narcotics was further cemented in May 2022 when two controlled purchases of cocaine were made from him after the overdose.
