Winter Weather Advisory: Heavy Lake Effect Snow to Impact Allegany County Through Sunday
(WNY News Now)Buffalo, New YorkA Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Allegany County by the Buffalo National Weather Service (NWS), and it will be in effect from January 2 at 3:16 AM EST to January 5 at 6:00 PM EST. A lake effect snow event is predicted to bring heavy accumulations and strong gusts, so locals and visitors are advised to prepare for difficult circumstances.
Snow and Wind to Create Treacherous Conditions
Additional snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are warned of in the alert, particularly in the higher elevations of western Allegany County. Up to 40 mph gusts of accompanying winds could cause blowing and drifting snow, which would significantly impair visibility.
