Allegany County Firefighters Battle Blaze in Friendship, Saving Lives and Limiting Damage

(WNY News Now) More than a dozen fire agencies and emergency services are working nonstop to contain the damage and guarantee the safety of inhabitants as a fast-moving fire destroys eight apartments in Friendship. The Friendship Fire Department was called in to respond to a structure fire at 4 Depot Street in Friendship at 12:27 p.m. on January 2, 2025, according to the Office of Emergency Management. The City of Olean Fire Department and ten Allegany County Fire Departments arrived on the scene. Three fire units were also on standby, and seven ambulance agencies responded. (WNY News Now) – In a pivotal step for regional mobility, Allegany County has approved a contract with Cattaraugus County to manage the Olean Area Transit System (OATS), effective January 1, 2025.Belmont, NY – At their October 23, 2024, Legislative Board meeting, the Allegany County Board  of Legislators approved a Public Transportation Services Agreement with Cattaraugus County for  coordinating the operation and administration of the Olean Area Transit System (OATS) for a  three-year term commencing on January 1, 2025, and remaining in effect through December 31,  2027.
