(WNY News Now) Niagara County law enforcement is part of a statewide initiative to prevent drunk driving and save lives this Christmas season.The county's involvement in the STOP-DWI Holiday Season High Visibility Engagement Campaign, a statewide effort to combat drunk driving during the hectic holiday season, has been announced by Niagara County Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti.The goal of the December 11–January 1 campaign is to improve public safety by lowering crashes caused by drugs and alcohol. (WNY News Now) Governor Kathy Hochul launched a statewide crackdown on reckless and intoxicated driving through the Thanksgiving weekend, and state officials are acting swiftly to ensure safe holiday travel.State Police and other law enforcement agencies around the state will step up patrols during Thanksgiving weekend to combat irresponsible and intoxicated driving, Governor Kathy Hochul announced today.
