New York Road Renamed to Honor WWII Hero T Sgt. Walter W. Shearing’s Ultimate Sacrifice

(WNY News Now) – Governor Kathy Hochul has signed a law designating a portion of State Route 19 in Wyoming County, New York, as the “T Sgt. Walter W. Shearing Memorial Highway,” honoring a local World War II hero’s legacy and service.ALBANY – Senator George Borrello announced that legislation he sponsored to rename State  Route 19 in the Town of Gainesville as the “T Sgt. Walter W. Shearing Memorial Highway” has  been signed into law by Governor Kathy Hochul. Walter Shearing was a young man who was killed in action while serving in the U.S. Army  during World War II.
