Cowboys will not bring back head coach Mike McCarthy, reports say
According to several sources, head coach Mike McCarthy will not return to the Dallas Cowboys.
Prior to the 2020 season, McCarthy inked a five-year deal with the Cowboys, which expires on Tuesday. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Dallas and McCarthy were negotiating a new contract but were unable to agree on terms.
McCarthy led the Cowboys to a 49-35 record in his five seasons as head coach. He has the fourth-best winning % in franchise history at.583. From 2021 to 2023, McCarthy coached three consecutive 12-5 teams, although he had a difficult playoff season, winning only one of his four games.
