Indian American family subjected to racist rant on United Airlines bus
On a United Airlines shuttle bus, an Indian American photographer is speaking out about a video he took of a woman using racist epithets to verbally abuse his family.
The week before Thanksgiving, fifty-year-old Pervez Taufiq was flying from Mexico to Los Angeles with his wife and three kids when the woman harassed him, calling his family "tandoori" and "stinky."
Among his many publications are Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Taufiq is a well-known wedding photographer.
According to him, the woman started harassing him in the air when she went up to his 11-year-old kid, who was seated apart from the family, and asked him about his race, including whether he was Indian and where he was from (NBC News). The interaction on the aircraft could not be independently verified by NBC News.
