Yu Shang Food Inc. Recalls Over 72,000 Pounds of Meat and Poultry Products Due to Listeria Contamination; Infant Death Reported

A recall of roughly 72,240 pounds of ready-to-eat beef and poultry items has been issued by Spartanburg-based Yu Shang Food Inc. because of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This recall comes after a terrible event in which a baby in California died and at least ten other people in four states became ill due to the outbreak. Building on a November 9, 2024, initial recall, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the new recall on November 21, 2024. Products manufactured prior to October 28, 2024, such as chicken feet, duck neck, cattle shank, and swine hock, are among those impacted. Commencing industrial action Monday, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) declared its intention to "end poverty wages" and demand "respect on the job during the holiday travel season." The striking personnel are from Prospect Airport Services and ABM, whose duties include helping wheelchair-bound passeng...

Menendez brothers’ bid to be freed: Where does their resentencing effort stand?

Following the dismissal of Los Angeles County's chief prosecutor earlier this month, who suggested a fresh sentence that may allow the brothers' release, Erik and Lyle Menendez's attempts to shorten their life sentences without the possibility of parole are still in limbo. However, a lawyer for the brothers told NBC News that those efforts will continue Monday when they appear for a status conference to decide whether to keep a Dec. 11 resentencing hearing scheduled. Erik and Lyle will make a remote appearance from the San Diego prison where they are being detained, defense lawyer Mark Gerago told NBC Los Angeles. The brothers were sentenced to 35 years in prison for the August 20, 1989, shotgun killings of their parents, Jos and Kitty Menendez, in their Beverly Hills residence. George Gas...

DOJ concerns about Todd Blanche and Saquon Barkley bolsters MVP case: Morning Rundown

DOJ officials fear that Todd Blanche will not oppose Trump. Today, the Menendez brothers are scheduled to attend a hearing regarding their possible resentencing. The largest event in chess is here, including a youthful prodigy, a battered champion, and a missing great. What to know today is as follows. Will Trump s former defense lawyer protect the Justice Department from Trump? The withdrawal of Matt Gaetz as President-elect Donald Trump's attorney general nominee last week was a comfort to many professional lawyers in the Justice Department. Trump chose Pam Bondi, a longstanding supporter who believed the previous president's promises regarding the 2020 election, as attorney general of Florida a few hours later. Attorneys for the Justice Department now believe that Todd Blanche, T...

Prosecutors seek 20 years for man who organized wife’s mass rape in case that shocked France

A French prosecutor said Monday that a husband who planned the mass rape of his wife for almost 10 years, drugged her into unconsciousness, and shared photos and videos of the attacks should be sentenced to the maximum of 20 years in jail. In a trial that garnered international attention and evolved into an investigation into the prevalence of sexual violence in France and beyond, Dominique Pelicot, 71, has admitted the accusations. Public prosecutor Laure Chabaud told the court that the maximum sentence of 20 years is both excessive and insufficient given the gravity of the repeated and violent actions. The majority of the 50 other men on trial have stated that they were unaware that they were raping Gisele Pelicot, that they had no intention of raping her, and that they blamed her former...

‘The Simpsons’ Milhouse star Pamela Hayden on leaving: ‘It was a tough decision, but the right one’

For Pamela Hayden, everything is still coming up in Milhouse. Following Sunday night's episode of Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes, the actress, who has been the voice of Bart's best friend on The Simpsons for 35 years, will be retiring. However, Hayden stated that she has no regrets about leaving the venerable program. How many performers can claim to have been involved in a show for 35 years in a row? Variety was informed by Hayden. That's incredible in and of itself. However, it was time for me to focus on my other artistic pursuits, such as making films. Although it was a difficult choice, I believe it was the right one. Hayden's exit has been planned for some time because animation takes a long time to go from concept to television. The Simpsons has been f...

UAE announces arrests of three people linked to rabbi killed in ‘antisemitic terrorist’ murder

Three Uzbek nationals have been taken into custody by UAE authorities in relation to the death of an Israeli Moldovan rabbi who was discovered dead in the Gulf state. Israeli officials expressed indignation over the murder, which also brought attention to the small but expanding Jewish community in the Emirate, which established diplomatic relations with the Jewish state in the 2020 Abraham Accords. Israel's attack on the Gaza Strip and the subsequent Arab outcry have put pressure on that opening. On Monday, the Ministry of Interior in the United Arab Emirates revealed the identity of "the three perpetrators arrested for committing the murder of the Moldovan resident, Zvi Kogan." It stated that it was "conducting initial investigations" with Azizi Kamilovich, 33, Makhmudjon Abdurrahim, 28,...
