A Spirit Airlines flight to Haiti was hit by gunfire on Monday, injuring a flight attendant, as the State Department warned of "gang-led efforts" to stop travel to the country. Spirit released a statement confirming that one of its flights from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, was diverted to the Dominican Republic on Monday. It said that an inspection of the aircraft showed damage consistent with gunfire. Five people are dead after multiple shootings that took place in three different homes in Wichita, Kansas. Just before 6 p.m. on Sunday, a 911 call reported a shooting on the 1700 block of Santa Fe, according to NBC affiliate in Wichita KSN . Officers responding to the residence found a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound, the Wichita Police Department said in a statement. Shortly after, officers conducted a follow-up at another home just over half a mile away from the initial shooting scene. New York City Mayor Eric Adams asked a judge on Monday to set an earlier trial date in his federal corruption case next year, arguing the current date would impede Adams’ participation in his mayoral reelection campaign, according to court documents. In a letter to the court, Adams’ lawyer, Alex Spiro, requested the trial to begin weeks earlier on April 1, rather than later that month.
